RE: Propane Heaters in a Tent

I have several friends that use the my buddy heater. ALWAYS allow for proper ventilation and they are safe. From what I see with the mesh tops in todays tents you won't have a problem.

RE: tent pitched for extended periods

Whats the temp where you will camp and what type of tent? I use 2 different tents a Coleman 12X10 and old Sears Hillary 8X10 canvas. I use a my buddy heater or a Coleman catalytic for heat but don't tent camp when it's below 25 degrees. The Coleman tent has mesh top so ventalation is no problem the canvas is much warmer but I have keep window open to vent. For long periods I would put ap a tarp or 2 to help insure everything stays dry. I have a camper with electricity for really cold camping, but a friend does as you and really enjoys it.

RE: Camping alone (not to be confused with the other topic)

Go for it. I've camped alone many times.Depending on distance DW will come spend the day and go hame in the evening. Sometimes it's my only option. I lso deer hunt amd camp alone then also. There are other hunters at camp also but we all have our own "set up".

RE: Rain Proof A Tent

Hang a tarp over it. Make sure to give it plenty of angle to drain and secure it well.

RE: Tent camped for the first time in years...

Go for it. I got back into camping 6 years ago when DD bought me a tent for fathers day. Had camped for years but had gotten away from it. I had to update a lot of gear. Now I can't go enough. Good luck in whatever you do.

RE: coffee maker

I have one of the Coleman I bough on clearence for $12.50 went to buy a regular pot and found it. A bit bulky but now that I've used it I like it. It does take it's time but makes great coffee.

RE: Tarp under the tent or in the tent ??

I put one under and in for just the reasons jcrv lsited. Best habit I got onto for keeping tent floor in good shape and keeping dry. From my experience even the best tents may develop leaks after enough rain.

RE: red canyon, eureka copper canyon, coleman weather master

I have the Coleman Red Canyon. This is the 5th year of use. Had to seal seams 2 times and once a year. It has held up well. I received it as a gift for Fathers day. I have been very happy with it. Gets regular use by my family ages 3 years, teens and adults. I could spend more but don't feel the need. I have other Coleman tents that I am happy with also.

RE: Battery power box?

Coleman Battery Operated Fan This little $20 fan saved me during hot hurricane season when there was no electric. Seriously. Best $20 camping item I've purchased. It works very well -- strong breeze :C I bought this battery operated fan from Walmart a couple of years ago. I really liked it. It has since gone missing. I'm pretty sure my oldest DD took it with her on a camp out with another family and it's packed away in their gear. But she denies it, of course. This is the same family that has my $10 5x7 tarp (not a $2 cheapie, but a good quality one) and a decent ice chest that someone in their family filled with dog food for thier huge slobbering mutts. Yuck. They can keep it. They are really very nice people, though. And they treat my DD very well. But, my camping gear doesn't go with them anymore. In any case, I will be replacing that fan with another one just like it. Walmart still carries them; at least my local stores do, I haven't seen it on their website. I was looking at that very fan yesterday. I have a question, does it have a 'cigarette lighter' plug so you can plug it in a 12v dc outlet? Yes it does. Those are the fans I use.

RE: Turn off da flashlight fellas!

It happened to me last fall. One of them thought about after a bit. That didn't stop the other noise!!!! There was beer involved. I ended up putting in my earplugs I carry for such instances.

RE: Gear

My daughter talked me into buying one a few years ago and I was amazed. Try putting a small piece of foil over top to speed toasting just a bit. Keep an eye on it. I have since bought an old Coleman stovetop oven. I've about got biscuits down.

RE: Need a new cooler!

I've had one 5 years. Works great. Keep it in shade when possible. I put plastic grocery bags over items in mine. Helps keep cold in. By putting several layers it will fill space making less area to cool.

RE: Need a good camp chair

I second the Coleman chairs. We have 2 without tray and they are great. They keep you sitting up and are easy to get in/out of.

RE: Gear

Gee I see a pattern here. I don't have the hot water heater but I do have a lot of the gear I see here. No potti yet but I see it in the near future. Wife would like it and would be good fo young grandson. I'll just have to make room on my camp trailer for it.

RE: Shower Tent Question

If there are facilities available use them! I see no problem using one for port a potti. I'm looking at that for wife and 3 YO grandson. Just dispose of waste properly!!
